Pastor Linda's vision for collaborative empowerment — ministering spiritually and naturally, locally and internationally.
Vision in motion
“RIVERS are People Engaging Empowerment — Spiritually, Naturally, Individually, and Collaboratively.”
Rivers doesn't separate spiritual formation from everyday life. We seek to empower people both spiritually and naturally — in their education, vocations, businesses, relationships, communities, and spheres of influence. Ministry life at Rivers has included Bible study and spiritual education, mentoring, marriage and singles ministry, women's and men's groups, children's ministry, and racial-justice work.
That vision is growing into an Empowerment Institute — collaborative empowerment efforts that minister locally and internationally, drawing on Isaiah 58 and Luke 4: loose the chains of injustice, feed the hungry, shelter and clothe those in need.
This church accepts the Holy Scriptures as the revealed will of God, the all-sufficient rule for faith and practice, and for the purpose of maintaining general unity, adopts the following statement of fundamental truths:
Linda Requilez experienced God's power when she accepted Christ during a time of revival in her teens. Ordained since 2003, she leads Rivers of Living Water Christian Center — currently in "Cyber-Church" mode — with extensive work on the north and west sides of Chicago and missions to India, South America, Central America, Dubai, and Africa.
Often described as a "Jump-Starter," she carries a revelatory anointing, quick to respond to the Holy Spirit — with a vision straight from Isaiah 58: loose the chains of injustice, feed the hungry, shelter and clothe those in need.
She holds a Master's in Human Resource Development (NEIU), a Master of Divinity, and an MBA (North Park). She is married to Bruce Requilez; together they have nine children and twenty-four (and counting!) grandchildren.
Her core message: "Christ In You, The Hope of Glory." — Colossians 1:27

Fasting and prayer can restore your "first love" for the Lord, humble you in the sight of God (Psalm 35:13), and transform your prayer life into a richer, more personal experience.
Normal fast — sunset to sunset, no food or liquid (Leviticus 16:29).
Partial (Daniel) fast — a restricted diet, like Daniel's vegetables and water (Daniel 1:15).
Radical fast — food and water, three days at most, like Esther (Esther 4:15-16).
Fasting is voluntary, never compulsory. Please consult your doctor before beginning any extended fast. Drink plenty of water, stay in the Word, and break the fast gently with soups and vegetables.

No matter where we are — palace or prison — God is in control. Joseph's story, Genesis 40.
"Whoever believes in me… out of his heart will flow rivers of living water." — John 7:38. We don't need to be perfect to worship Jesus.

"Father God, as I sow my financial seed in faith, I receive Jesus' Anointing as my High Priest according to Hebrews 3:1. In Jesus' Name, I believe every need is met with heaven's best… Your Word says in Luke 6:38 that as I give, it is given unto me; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over. In Jesus' Name, Amen."
